When something really catches our eye or something happens we can hardly believe…we sometimes use the expression “Bigger than Life”. While looking at this daffodil through the camera lense, it’s became “Bigger than Life” as my eye absorbed its beauty.
God’s Word is full of truths that are bigger than we can even comprehend…Truths that have a huge, unforeseeable outcome when they are applied to our lives! Ask yourself these questions: How important is God’s Word in my life on an everyday basis? Do I turn to it for strength, power, or for answers? Do I open it everyday? Have I committed key verses to memory? Only you and I know the answers that pertain to our own lives.
This year I challenged my Children’s Church kids to set their own goal in how many verses they would memorize this year. I have to say they surprised me by setting goals considerably higher than I would have given them, but the real surprise is in seeing them week after week pushing themselves to learn more. Their love for God’s Word has stirred my heart to discipline myself to memorize more scripture.
The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
Psalm 37:31
How powerful are those biblical truths? Well, let me tell you! Powerful enough to restore a soul, bring healing to the hurting, quench the thirst of those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, or a destiny-changer for a life that appears too messed up to matter. Truth becomes living bread for those who hunger for God, becomes a lighthouse that draws in those who are tossed to and fro on the seas of life, a filling station for the empty spirit, a lifter for the downcast, gives strength when you have none left, power to the weak, and the list could go on and on!
God’s Word is packed so full of awesome truths, and yet many times those truths are just skimmed over…or the Bible is just used for a storybook.
If you don’t already, I dare you to pick up your Bible everyday and begin to put some of the simple yet “Bigger-Than-Life” truths in action in your daily life! You will be amazed. Read it! Memorize it! Apply it! Your life will be impacted in ways you never expected.
